Volunteer Background Check Policy Now In Effect
Effective December 1, district policy states that no parent may volunteer in a classroom or chaperone a field trip without a district approved background check on file.  For more information on initiating this process, you may call Principal's Secretary Kim Goelz at 763.682.8801 or stop in the Northwinds Office during normal business hours.

Reminder
Please remember that students are not allowed in the building before 8:30 a.m.  There is no supervision available until that time and students will need to wait outside if they arrive before 8:30 a.m.  Please make sure that your children dress appropriately for the weather in the event that they need to wait outdoors for a few minutes in the morning.  If your child is a walker, make sure that they are not leaving the house too early to avoid an extended wait time.

School Cancellation Policy

In case of a late start, early dismissal or school cancellation due to weather (or emergency) conditions, parents will be notified by phone and email through our automated parent notification system (Blackboard Connect). For additional updates, you can also check our school district website at www.bhmschools.com or tune into radio stations WCCO (830 AM) or KRWC (1360 AM) or follow announcements on television stations KARE 11, KMSP 9, KSTP 5 and WCCO 4.

If the district has to close school and send students home early, we will assume that your child will go to his/her normal destination at the end of the day. If your child must go to a different destination on these days, you will be asked to complete a special form that will be sent home in the fall. Please discuss with your child what he/she is to do in case early dismissal is called.

Safety Reminder
Parents:  Please make sure to call or send a note to school (unless you have already done this) if you want your children to ride home from school with anyone else besides a parent.

We have had some instances where neighbors or friends of students have offered to give them a ride home-especially students who walk to and from school.  We want to make sure this is only done with parent permission.  Also, there have been some cases where neighbors or friends have stopped to offer walkers rides to school.

Please talk with your children to make sure they know what you want them to do in these instances to make good  choices.  Thank you for helping us keep your children safe.
